Bumble's AI detects and blurs unsolicited explicit images before recipients see them. I've experienced this firsthand and it works. Several platforms use AI to detect romance scam scripts, catfishing patterns, and bot accounts. AI-powered identity verification compares live selfies against profile photos.
This is the unambiguously positive application of AI in dating. If it prevents harassment and fraud, I'm for it completely.
The Chatbot Controversy
Some people now use AI tools to generate opening messages, suggest conversation topics, and maintain multiple conversations simultaneously. The practical benefit for people with messaging anxiety is real. The ethical concern is equally real: the person you're chatting with deserves to know they're talking to you, not ChatGPT.

Use AI where it genuinely helps: safety, reducing decision fatigue, better matches. Stay skeptical of claims that technology can replace the irreducibly human experience of falling for someone.
